FAQ

Q: I’m an adult. Is this for me?

A: Yes! The Barbican club is currently only for adults (sorry, kids!) and it’s never too late to start.

Q: I’m a child. Is this for me?

A: No, the Barbican club is just for adults. Tower Bridge, Charlton and Peckham clubs do accept children though, so check them out.

Q: What shall I wear?

A: Any sports clothing is fine to begin. If you decide to join the club we’ll arrange for you to get a dobok (uniform). Normally people wear tracksuit bottoms or shorts and a t-shirt to their first few sessions. We train in bare feet, so it’s best if your tracksuit bottoms aren’t so long that you might stand on them.

Q: Are there special sessions just for beginners?

A: Yes, we regularly run sessions for new beginners at our Tuesday and Thursday venues. We are a really friendly club, but know from experience (we were all beginners once!), that it can be very daunting walking into a hall with a lot of strangers in martial arts uniform and some people wearing black belts! We will make every effort to make you feel welcome before the class starts and let you ask any questions you may have, so please pluck up the courage to come in!
