London weekend course 2018
The 12th – 13th May, saw the return of the Annual Taekwondo Weekend Course instructed by Grandmaster Loh.
Attendees met from all 3 TTA Clubs now set up across London, in addition to attendees travelling from Sussex and Nottingham. The weekend provided an opportunity to cover a wide range of aspects to improve everyone’s understanding and practice of taekwondo from warm ups, stretches, conditioning, anatomy, kicking techniques, poomsae, sparring, jumping, and even sports massage! Many thanks to Grandmaster Loh for the invaluable training and to all who travelled from outside London to join the course!
Attendees recount their experiences below:
Over the two days, we managed to complete more hours of intensive training than would have been possible within a month! The exercises were demanding and pushed us to the limit of what we though possible, and the more time we spent focussing and stretching, the further we pushed and the higher we reached!
We were taught kicking techniques, patterns, and sparring and we were reminded that if we consider and support our training partners, than we both will develop!
It was an inspiration, an honor and a pleasure training with everyone. I had a lot of fun and look forward to next time.

This was the 3rd time I have attended the London course and was a great opportunity to develop my Taekwondo practice and take it to the next level. The course offered a rounded experience working on all the different components, spending time on different exercises to help perfect our kicking techniques, learning more about how our own bodies work and refining our moves in an indepth poomsae session. Grandmaster Loh’s feedback and explanations throughout the weekend was extremely valuable for my Taekwondo journey.

This was my first time doing the London course. It was great as it covered a lot of different aspects to sparring as well as poomsae too. Grandmaster Loh was a great teacher and really made us feel at ease from the start of the course. I have come away feeling like my knowledge and technique have improved, as well as feeling like I have gained more confidence in such a short space of time. I would recommend this course for anyone who is keen to gain more experience in taekwondo – It’s very rewarding!

Although initially anxious, I’m glad the seniors encouraged me to attend the course. It was intense but in a really fun way, with more time than a usual weekday class to cover more techniques from warms ups, stretches, side kicks, back kicks, turning kicks, hook kicks and even flying side sicks!
It was a shame having to leave on the last day knowing the course was over, as it was so worthwhile, and hopefully it was a great insight to future courses, summer school and competitions!

Taking part in the London weekend intensive course for the first time was a massive challenge but the atmosphere of the club and on going support from the senior grades and of course Grandmaster Loh himself, made the experience equally as fun, as it was rewarding. I’d recommend this club and this course to anyone who wants to learn and improve their skills in taekwondo and realise its benefits both in and outside the training room!
